Help us raise funds to rebuild

our academy rider home as hundreds of people lose their homes after the fire in Masiphumelele

Another fire has torn through the Masiphumelele informal settlement last week, and has left more than 1,000 residents without homes. Once fire services arrived on the scene we found many residents trying to assist with buckets of water however they could only save the bare minimum. Unfortunately, today we have our young rider, Inga Sombela, and his family that were affected in the fire.

Inga Sombela is currently in Grade 11 and attending Masiphumelele high school. He has a family of 5 and all dependant on their mother, who is the breadwinner. Inga helps his family pay for groceries weekly as he found a job at a local coffee shop where he looks after customer’s bicycles. Pictured above we see Inga smiling along side his team mates as they help him recover his home.

At this point Inga and his family are just surviving. They need a roof over their heads, clothes on their backs and food in their stomachs. They need many different materials in order to rebuild a home, including all those basic, daily items (such as cutlery, pots, basic cooking appliances) to get them going.
