Dec 18 - Buffalo partners with Qhubeka to move South Africans forward
The Buffalo Foundation will be partnering with Qhubeka and HotChillee, to provide Qhubeka Bicycles to communities in South Africa over the next three years. Together, we envision a South Africa where distance is no longer a barrier to education, healthcare and economic opportunity.
Jan Joubert, CEO of Rainmaker Solutions and Trustee of the Buffalo Foundation, said: “We love the work Qhubeka does. They donate bikes to people whose lives are changed for the better. A bike can take someone to school or work or a health clinic – these donations will empower individuals and help get communities moving. We’re thrilled that we can use the Buffalo Foundation to support Qhubeka’s vision.”
Sven Thiele, CEO of HotChillee, added: “Our iconic events bring together a blend of amateur and professional riders, celebrities and business people who all share a love for cycling. They also tend to be passionate about making a positive difference in the world. Our riders will now have the opportunity to use their love of cycling to enrich the lives of South African children, households and entire communities.”
Tsatsi Phaweni, Executive Director at Qhubeka, added: “We are delighted that Buffalo Foundation, Rainmaker and HotChillee are supporting us with our vision. They have already demonstrated their passion to use cycling as the catalyst to change lives through their work at the Kwano Cycling Academy in Plettenberg Bay. With their support, we are looking forward to connecting even more people to schools, clinics and jobs.”
Sep 18 - Buffalo Foundation supports cyclist's education

23 year old Shameeg grew up in Grassy Park, situated on the Cape Flats in Cape Town, South Africa, where young people all too often get caught up in drugs, alcohol and gangs. Sport has kept Shameeg focussed, giving him the opportunity to have a different outlook on life and to chase dreams and make them a reality. In his 7 years of cycling, he has raced at the highest level and competed at the World Championships. However a serious illness and a forced break from cycling made Shameeg realise that education comes first.
Once Shameeg has completed his diploma and his competitive cycling days draw to a close, his next dream is to manage a sports team. Shameeg says , “I am really thankful to the Buffalo Foundation for giving me the opportunity to achieve my Sports Management Diploma qualification and to dream big”.
