Who are Qhubeka?

Qhubeka is a non-profit/charitable group of entities that moves people forward with bicycles. People earn bicycles through Qhubeka programmes, improving their access to schools, clinics and jobs. Qhubeka is a Nguni word that means “to progress”, “to move forward”.

With bicycles, people can travel faster and further, and carry more. Bicycles are tools that help people to access schools, clinics and jobs, thus helping whole communities to move forward. People earn Qhubeka Bicycles through learn-to-earn programmes for schoolchildren, and work-to-earn programmes for adults.
